Battery of soil ecotoxicological tests and their use for evaluation of toxic effects of waste

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku odpadů, především z průmyslových činností, a jejich nežádoucí dopad na životní prostředí. V teoretické části práce pojednává o odpadech a jejich vzniku, popisuje množství vyprodukovaného odpadu na území České republiky a důležitost evidence odpadů. Dále práce popisuje metody nakládání s odpady podle hierarchie dané odpadovým hospodářstvím, jejich opětovné využití a vliv vyprodukovaných odpadů na znečištění životního prostředí. Ekotoxikologická část diplomové práce se zabývá půdní ekotoxikologií, charakteristikou nebezpečné vlastnosti H14 a ekotoxikologickými indexy. Navazuje na testování pomocí baterie ekotoxikologických testů a možnostmi testování nebezpečných vlastností odpadů. Hlavním cílem této práce je sledování toxicity kalů z broušení hřídelí. Míra toxicity je hodnocena baterií testů, zahrnující sledování inhibice klíčivosti semen hořčice bílé (Sinapis alba) a salátu (Lactuca sativa), změny reprodukce a mortality chvostoskoků (Folsomia candida) a stanovení potenciální nitrifikace a inhibice nitrifikace sledovaného vzorku. Pro zjištění bližšího složení vzorku byla provedena chemická analýza zahrnující žíhací zkoušku, stanovení měrné hmotnosti a množství vyplavitelných látek. Jednotlivé testy byly nejprve provedeny se standardními látkami a poté s reálnými vzorky odebranými z průmyslového závodu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of waste, in particular produced by industrial activities, and on the adverse impact of such waste on the environment. In the theoretical part, the thesis deals with waste and its generation, describes the amount of waste produced on the territory of the Czech Republic and the importance of waste registration. Furthermore, the thesis describes the methods of waste treatment according to the waste management hierarchy, reuse of waste and the impact of waste produced on the environmental pollution. The ecotoxicological part of the diploma thesis deals with soil ecotoxicology, characteristics of the H14 hazardous property and ecotoxicological indexes. It relates to the testing by means of a battery of ecotoxicological tests and the possibilities of testing of hazardous properties of waste. The main objective of this thesis is to monitor the toxicity of sludge from shaft grinding. The degree of toxicity is evaluated on the basis of a battery of tests comprising monitoring of the inhibition germinative activity of seeds of white mustard (Sinapis alba) and lettuce (Lactuca Sativa), changes of reproduction and mortality of springtails (Folsomia candida) and determination of potential nitrification and inhibition of nitrification of the monitored sample. To determine the composition of the sample, chemical analysis was performed comprising annealing test, determination of specific weight and amount of outwash-able substances. The individual tests were first performed with standard substances and then with real samples taken from an industrial plant.
