Territorial claims of Czechoslovakia in the Hlubčice and Ratiboř Region in the Years 1918-1948

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá československými územními požadavky na území Hlubčicka a Ratibořska v letech 1918-1948. Cílem práce je zjistit, popsat a zhodnotit hlavní argumenty požadavků československé diplomacie na Pařížské mírové konferenci v roce 1919, stejně jako obnovené požadavky po druhé světové válce. Práce se také zabývá rolí světových velmocí, ale i československých politiků, ve sporu. Bylo zjištěno, že hlavními argumenty byly historické, etnické, ekonomické a vojenské aspekty oblasti a že nároky byly ve většině ohledů přehnané a nerealistické. Výsledky jednání ovlivnily zájmy evropských velmocí a posléze SSSR, stejně jako naivní důvěra československých politiků v přízeň ze strany těchto zemí.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with Czechoslovak territorial claims in the Hlubčice and Ratiboř regions in the years 1918-1948. The goal of the thesis is to cover, describe and evaluate main arguments of Czechoslovak diplomacy at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 as well as renewed territorial claims after the Second World War. The thesis also deals with the role of both superpowers and Czechoslovak politicians in the dispute. It has been discovered that the main arguments used for Czechoslovak claims were historical, ethnical, economical and military aspects of the region and that those claims were exaggerated and unrealistic. The results of negotiations were affected by interests of both European superpowers and the USSR as well as by naive trust of Czechoslovak politicians in the support from those countries.
