Reflections of World War I in Cinematography

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá reflexí první světové války ve filmovém tvůrčím zpracování států Německa, Ruska a Československa během let 1914-1939. Cílem studie je kompaktní analýza rozdílného ideového a tvůrčího pojetí kinematografií třech odlišných států v ohlasové tvorbě o totožném historickém tématu. Pozornost je věnovaná jednotlivým filmům, jejichž interpretační odkaz je uveden do širšího kontextu jak mezinárodních dějin, tak i historického vývoje jednotlivých států včetně rozvojové etapy jejich kinematografií. Zohledněn je specifický historický vývoj všech vytyčených států, jejichž politické zřízení doznalo během vymezených let radikálních proměn. Současně s tím je brán zřetel i na souvislost proměny audiovizuální reflexe první světové války s vnitropolitickými proměnami daných států. Výsledkem této práce je ucelená komparace na základě diferenciace tvůrčích postupů, politických zřízení a ideologií v rámci historických a politických souvislostí v období mezi světovými válkami.

Abstract:

This magister thesis deals with the audiovisual reflections of the World War I in cinematographies of Germany, Russia and Czechoslovakia during the years 1914-1939. The main aim of this study is to make a compact analysis of different ideological and creative approach of filmmaking in three different states on the basis of same historical theme. Attention is devoted to that particular movies, whose interpretive references is given into general context of the international history and the historical progress of concrete states, including historical develope of their cinematographies. The attention is also aimed on the specific historical internal progress of all appointed states, whose political systems has undergone radical changes through the interwar years.The result of this work is a comprehensive comparison based on the differentiation of creative audiovisual procedures, the political establishment of concrete regimes, and the political ideologies within the historical and political context in the interwar period.
