Perspectives of light sources on the global market

Abstract:

Diplomová práce analyzuje dopad energeticky účinných opatření zaváděných v současnosti ve světě. Hlavním cílem práce je analýza vývoje globálního trhu světelných zdrojů v souvislosti s energeticky účinnými standardy včetně dopadu na koncového uživatele. Nejprve je představen energetický problém v souvislosti se spotřebou elektrické energie a doporučení Mezinárodní energetické agentury v této oblasti. Zavádění energetických standardů vede k postupnému nahrazování klasických žárovek novými světelnými zdroji. Tyto nové technologie jsou stručně představeny včetně jejich výhod a nevýhod. V rámci konceptu energetické účinnosti jsou dále shrnuty bariéry a nástroje aplikované ve světě v oblasti osvětlení, s důrazem na EU, Mexiko a USA. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována socioekonomickému dopadu. Analýza chování spotřebitele a jeho reakce na změny na trhu vychází z podkladů získaných dotazníkovým průzkumem mezi mladými lidmi v ČR, Mexiku a USA. Nechybí zjednodušený model pro výpočet finanční úspory spotřebitele související s přechodem na náhradní světelné zdroje. Je zmíněn též environmentální dopad těchto světelných zdrojů. Předpověď Mezinárodní energetické agentury v závěru práce zmiňuje scénáře vývoje trhů s energií.

Abstract:

This thesis analyzes the impact of energy efficiency measures that are currently implemented in the world. The main goal of this work is to analyze the global lighting market in relation to energy efficient standards, including the impact on the end user. To begin, the energy problem is introduced with emphasis on energy consumption and recommendations by the International Energy Agency in this area. The introduction of energy standards leads to the phasing out of incandescent light bulbs and replaces them with new light sources. Next, these new technologies are introduced, including their advantages and disadvantages. Third, main barriers and instruments applied to lighting in the world are summarized within the concept of energy efficiency, with emphasis on EU, Mexico, and USA. Particular attention is paid to the socioeconomic impact. The analysis of customer behavior and his reaction to the changes on the market are based on data obtained by a survey among young people in the Czech Republic, Mexico and USA. Fourth, there is also a simplified model for the financial savings calculation in relation to the lamp replacement. Environmental impacts of these light sources are mentioned as well. Finally, the outlook on the energy markets by the International Energy Agency is described.
