Abstract:

Tématem mé bakalářské práce jsou nevyhnutelná legislativních opatření a následné změny imigrační politiky a Spojených Států přijatých vládou v prezidentském období George W. Bushe. Jelikož většina zásadních a rozsáhlých změn byla učiněna v důsledku teroristických útoků 11. září 2001, soustředím se ve své práci převážně na reformy v prvním prezidentově funkčním období. Je zřejmé, že tato tragédie má dopad dokonce i na dnešní imigrační legislativu USA. Hlavním společným cílem všech učiněných opatření v této oblasti byla ochrana země před terorismem. Pro USA však nebylo lehké splnit tento nesnadný úkol a zároveň zůstat i nadále zemí imigrantů. Hlavním cílem práce bylo popsat nejdůležitější změny imigrační politiky přijaté jako nutné důsledky útoků 11. září, 2001.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis I dealt with inevitable measures and subsequent changes of U.S. immigration policy the government was taking during the George W. Bush presidential era. As the prime and most important measures were taken immediately after the September 11 terrorist attacks, I predominantly focused on changes during Bush’s first term of administration. It is evident that U.S. Immigration legislation can perceive the impact of the 9/11 tragedy even today as all the changes of immigration law after that date have had a main common objective- to secure the nation against terrorism. It has not been easy for the U.S., however, to carry out such a difficult task and live up to their reputation of a nation of immigrants. The driving objective of my work was to depict the most important U.S. immigration policy measures taken as necessary consequences of September 11, 2001 attacks.
