Abstract:

Evropské průmyslové podniky s energeticky náročnou výrobou jsou pod stále větším tlakem Evropské unie na snížení produkce emisí skleníkových plynů. To s sebou přináší nutnost investovat nemalé částky do inovací stávajících výrobních technologií, nebo do vývoje nových postupů. Jedním z hlavních nástrojů Evropské unie je systém ETS, regulace na základě obchodování s emisními povolenkami. Cílem práce bylo zjistit jaké vlivy má systém EU ETS na současný vývoj a budoucí strategii firmy AGC Flat Glass Czech a.s. člen AGC Group. Práce se zabývá analýzou kvantitativních a kvalitativních dat. Sekundární kvantitativní data pro praktickou část práce byla získána z oficiálně dostupných zdrojů, webových stránek a veřejně přístupných firemních dokumentů, jako jsou účetní závěrky a výroční zprávy. Ty byly následně podrobeny obsahové analýze. Data byla seřazena do časových řad a podrobena regresní analýze. Doplňující primární kvalitativní data získaná pomocí polostrukturovaného rozhovoru se zástupcem firmy byla kategorizována a vyhodnocena v souvislosti s analýzou dokumentů. Rozhovor byl veden na připravená témata vztahující se ke snižování emisí a potřebným emisním povolenkám. Závěry práce přispějí k hlubšímu poznání problematiky a napoví, kterým směrem by se podnikání firem působících v oblasti regulované EU ETS, mohlo ubírat.

Abstract:

European energy-intensive industries are under increasing pressure from the European Union to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This entails the need to invest considerable sums in the innovation of existing production technologies or in the development of new processes. One of the main instruments of the European Union is the ETS, regulation based on emissions trading. The aim of the work was to find out what effects the EU ETS system has on the current development and future strategy of the company AGC Flat Glass Czech a.s. member of AGC Group. The work deals with the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. Secondary quantitative data for the practical part of the work was obtained from officially available sources, websites and publicly available company documents, such as financial statements and annual reports. These were then subjected to content analysis. The data were sorted into time series and subjected to regression analysis. Complementary primary qualitative data obtained through a semi-structured interview with a company representative were categorized and evaluated in connection with the analysis of documents. The interview was conducted on prepared topics related to emission reductions and the necessary emission allowances. The conclusions of the thesis will contribute to a deeper understanding of the issue and suggest in which direction the business of companies operating in the area regulated by the EU ETS could go.
