Analysis of the Possibilities of Computer Graphics with Emphasis on Vector Graphics

Abstract:

Význam této bakalářské práce spočívá v popisu principů 2D počítačové grafiky a vysvětlení rozdílu mezi grafikou rastrovou a vektorovou, včetně popisu základních principů, jejich vzniku a editace. Analyzuje též současné možnosti grafiky a nástroje určené k jejich tvorbě, editaci a správě. Práce byla zpracována s důrazem na vysvětlení zásadních pojmů v odvětví 2D počítačové grafiky, přičemž je napsána tak, aby oslovila široké spektrum čtenářů, laiků i odborníků. Dále jsou v práci ukázány a vysvětleny praktické aspekty tvorby grafického díla, včetně poznatků načerpaných několikaletými zkušenostmi. První kapitola práce pojednává obecně o historii, vývoji a současných moderních trendech na poli počítačové grafiky. Druhá kapitola objasňuje problematiku barevných modelů a osvětluje principy zobrazení barev na zobrazovacích a výstupních zařízeních. Srovnání rastrové a vektorové grafiky obsahuje kapitola třetí, kde jsou popsány principy tvorby těchto dvou hlavních typů 2D grafiky. Další kapitola je věnována rastrové grafice a to především softwaru pro její správu a editaci, ale také používaným formátům a používaným kompresním algoritmům. Pátá kapitola se věnuje blíže grafice vektorové, především programům pro její tvorbu a používané formáty včetně jejich vlastností. Poslední, šestá část, ukazuje praktický postup vzniku reálné grafické práce od zadání poptávky až po předtiskovou přípravu.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to describe the principles of 2D computer graphics and the explanation of the difference between raster and vector graphics, including the description of the basic principles of their creation and editing. There is also analyzed the current graphics options and tools for the creation, editing and administration. The work was prepared with an emphasis on explaining the key concepts in the 2D computer graphics, which is written to target a wide range of readers, amateurs and professionals. Furthermore, there are shown and explained the practical aspects of the graphic work, including findings emerged several years ago. The first chapter deals generally with history, evolution and current trends in the field of modern computer graphics. The second chapter explains the problems of color models and color display and illustrates the principles of displays and output devices. The comparison of raster and vector graphics includes the third section, which describes the principles of the formation of these two main types of 2D graphics. Another chapter is devoted to raster graphics, and especially software for managing and editing, but also formats and compression algorithms used. The fifth chapter deals with vector graphics more closely, especially programs for its creation and using formats, including their properties. The last six charter is about the practical process of real graphic work from the submission of demand to prepress.
