The attitude of women to examination methods during childbirth

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o postoji ženy k vyšetřovacím metodám v průběhu porodu. Dnešní doba klade na zdravotní personál při porodu vyšší nároky nejen v podobě teoretických znalostí, ale důležité je i rozlišení individuálních psychických postojů žen. Cílem práce je zjistit, jak ženám vyhovují vyšetřovací metody při porodu a zda jsou schopny je akceptovat jako nedílnou součást porodního procesu. Součástí práce je stanovení dvou dílčích cílů. První má za úkol zjistit, jaká vyšetřovací metoda je pro ženy nejvíce nepříjemná. Druhý zjišťuje spokojenost žen se zdravotnickým personálem. Následuje vyslovení dvou hypotéz, které obsahují domněnku rozdílného vnímání vyšetřovacích metod v závislosti na věku a na vzdělání. Práce se skládá z teoretické části, kde jsou popsány jednotlivé vyšetřovací metody během porodu a postoje ženy, které může zaujímat. Dalším oddílem je empirická část, kde jsou vyhodnoceny výsledky průzkumu prováděného u žen po porodu. Jako výzkumné metody byl použit anonymní dotazník, který byl dáván ženám po porodu. Výzkum byl realizován v Nemocnici Litoměřice a.s. a také pomocí on-line dotazníků z jiných nemocnic v České republice. Celkem výzkumný vzorek činil 202 respondentek. Z dotazníků vyplývá, že vyšetřovací metody v průběhu celého porodu převážná většina žen akceptuje jako důležitou součást porodního procesu. Nejvíce negativních ohlasů bylo na vaginální vyšetření, avšak i tato metoda nevadila nadpoloviční většině žen. Ženy byly s přístupem a komunikací zdravotníků převážně spokojené. Hypotézy se potvrdily jen částečně a předpoklad různého vnímání porodu z hlediska věku a vzdělání se ukázal jako pravdivý jen u některých vyšetřovacích metod. Statisticky významné rozdíly se u věku potvrdily u zevního vyšetření, vaginálního vyšetření a odběru moči. Co se týká vzdělání, hypotéza závislosti se potvrdila jen u zevního vyšetření. Závěrem lze říci, že vyšetřovací metody jsou potřebné k zajištění zdárného průběhu porodu, ale je při nich potřeba ze strany zdravotníků empatický a trpělivý přístup, který respektuje přání rodiček.

Abstract:

This work deals with the attitude of women to examination methods during the process of giving birth to a baby. Nowadays, the demands on medical personnel during the delivery are higher not only in terms of their theoretical knowledge; what is equally important is distinguishing the individual psychical women´s attitudes. The main goal of this work is to find out how women cope with different examination methods during the childbirth and if they are able to accept them as an integral part of the delivery process. The work also includes two partial goals: the first seeks to establish which examination method is most irritable for women; the second one inquires about how content they are with medical personnel. What follows then is the proclamation of two hypotheses. They contain the presumption of different perceptions of examination methods depending on the age and education. The work has a theoretical part where different examination methods are described as well as women´s attitudes that can be taken. The other part is empirical in which the results of a survey among women after the childbirth are evaluated. The anonymous questionnaire was used as a research means and the research was carried out among the women after the childbirth in Litoměřice Hospital ltd. as well as among women in other Czech hospitals with the help of an on-line questionnaire. Overall the investigative file accounted for 202 of respondents. From the mentioned questionnaires we learn that the prevailing majority of women accept the examination methods during the childbirth as an important part of the process. Most negative reactions occurred in connection with a vaginal examination but even this was not minded by more than fifty per cent of the questioned women. They were mostly content with the attitude and communication of medical personnel. The hypotheses were confirmed only partially and the presumption of different perceptions of the childbirth depending on the age and education turned out to be true only with some of the examination methods. The statistically significant differences in terms of the age were confirmed with the external examination, vaginal examination and taking of a urine sample. As for the education, the dependence hypothesis was confirmed only with the external examination. In conclusion it can be said that the examination methods are necessary to secure the successful process of the childbirth but they must be applied with empathy and patience on the part of medical staff and with respect to the wishes of expectant mothers.
