Viktor Dyk: The novels and poetry in the first period

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá Viktorem Dykem a jeho literární tvorbou v období "marností". Soustředí se na básnické sbírky A porta inferi (1897), Síla života (1898), Marnosti (1900) a také sbírky povídek Stud (1900) a Hučí jez a jiné prosy (1903). Je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První z nich pojednává o autorově životě a jeho umělecké tvorbě, soustředí se na prózu, poezii a drama, také je v ní obsažena charakteristika tří literárních směrů, které autora ovlivnily: dekadence, symbolismu a anarchistických buřičů. Druhá kapitola se zabývá třemi sbírkami poesie, v úvodu shrnuje jejich společné znaky. Třetí kapitola se zabývá prózou v daném období, konkrétně sbírkami povídek. Poslední kapitola pojednává o nejvýraznějších motivech spojených s osobností spisovatele: ironii, střetu snu a reality a z toho plynoucí desilusi a jeho pojetí národa a nacionalismu. V závěru shrnuje poznatky, které vyplývají z předchozího textu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with Viktor Dyk and his literary work in the period of "futility". It focuses on his collections of poetry A porta inferi (1897), Síla života (1898), Marnosti (1900) and also collections of short stories Stud (1900) and Hučí jez a jiné prósy (1903). It is divided into four chapters. The first one deals with the author's life and his artwork, it focuses on prose, poetry and drama, also describes three literary movements that had an impact on the author. It is decadence, symbolism and anarchist riotousness. The second chapter deals with three collections of poetry. In the beginning the chapter summarizes their common character. The third chapter deals with the prose of the particular period, specifially with the collections of short stories. The last one focuses on the most significant motifs associated with the author's personality: irony, the clash of dreams and reality and the resulting disillusion and its concept of nation and nationalism. In conclusion, it summarizes the findings of the previous text.
