The Relation between Attachment and the Styles of the Conflict's Solution in Romantic Relationships

Abstract:

V dospělých partnerských vztazích korespondují styly citové vazby se styly řešení konfiktů. Navíc jsou tyto konstrukty ovlivňovány mírou závazku. V této práci bylo zkoumáno, zda souvisí styly citové vazby dané dvoudimenzionálním modelem Brenanové, Clarkové a Shavera (2000) se styly řešení konfliktů definovanými Zacchillim, Hendrickem a Hendrickovou (2009). Zároveň byla zjišťována souvislost jistého stylu citové vazby a konstruktivních stylů řešení konfliktů s úrovní vztahu, tedy jeho délkou a mírou závazku. Hypotézy byly ověřovány dotazníkovou metododou na vzorku osob ve věku od 18 do 33 let (N=226 respondentů, 83,6% žen a 16,4% mužů), které dosud nežily v manželství a neměly děti. Dotazník byl vytvořen ze tří původních metod (ECR-R, RPCS, IMS) a byl administrován přes webové rozhraní. Analýza dat byla prováděna na pětiprocentní hladině významnosti pomocí korelací a lineární regrese. Bylo zjištěno, že délka vztahu nesouvisí se styly řešení konfliktů ani s konstruktivním řešením konfliktů, zde kompromisním stylem. Závazek predikoval výskyt konstruktivního stylu řešení konfliktů a nízkou úzkostnost v rámci dimenzí citové vazby. Jistý styl citové vazby souvisel s konstruktivním stylem řešení konfliktů (kompromisním stylem). Nejisté styly citové vazby souvisely s destruktivními styly řešení konfliktů (dominantní, reaktivní, separační a submisivní styl). Vyhýbavý styl řešení konfliktů s citovou vazbou nesouvisel.

Abstract:

A relation of attachment styles and conflict resolution styles can be found in adult romantic relationships. Withal these constructs are affected by the level of commitment. In this study the relation between attachment styles (Brennan, Clark, & Shaver, 2000) and conflict resolution styles defined by Zacchilli, Hendrick and Hendrick (2009) was investigated. Currently an association of secure attachment style and constructive styles of conflict resolution with the level of romantic relationship (a relationship lenght, the level of commitment) was investigated. Hypothesis were proved by self-report method in a sample of people 18-33 years old (N=226 people, 83,6% woman and 16,4% man). These people have never been married and didn´t have any child. The questionnaire was created by three original methods (ECR-R, RPCS, IMS) and was administered at web site. The data analysis was executed by correlations and linear regression at 5% level of significance. It was found, that it does not exist any connection between the relationship lenght and attachment styles nor constructive conflict resolution (compromise style). Commitment predicted a frequency of constructive conflict style and a low level of an anxiety in the attachment dimensions. The secure attachment style was related to compromise style of conflict resolution. Insecure attachment styles were related to destructive styles of conflict resolution (domination, reactivity, separation, submission). Avoidant conflict resolution style have no connection with attachment styles.
