Sharing economy – motivation of economic agents for using Airbnb

Abstract:

Tato práce si klade za cíl zmapovat možnosti služeb sdílené ekonomiky na území České republiky a následně identifikovat determinanty využívání některé ze služeb vysokoškolskými studenty. V práci jsou uvedeny definice pojmu sdílená ekonomika a kategorie od více autorů, ale také příklady takových společností. Jako zástupce sdílené ekonomiky byla vybrána společnost Airbnb, jež zprostředkovává ubytování. Jedna z částí práce je věnována popisu této platformy, její historii a aktuální pozici v ČR. Dotazník, který byl vytvořen, byl na internetu přístupný v listopadu 2019. Jako cílová skupina byli zvoleni studenti brněnských vysokých škol, kteří zodpovídali otázky zabývající se jejich zkušenostmi s portálem Airbnb, pobyty zprostředkovanými jinými službami a sociodemografickými údaji. V práci je uvedeno seznámení s tvorbou dotazníku a metodami využitými při zpracovávání dat získaných sběrem. Výsledky jsou představeny kvantitativně i graficky. Provedena byla také explorační analýza dat, pro kterou byly použity modely lineární pravděpodobnosti a logit. Na závěr je přistoupeno k interpretaci výsledků odhadů těchto modelů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis aims to chart options of sharing economy in the Czech Republic and identify determinants of using one of the services by an undergraduate. There are placed definitions and categories of the term sharing economy written by different authors. The thesis includes also examples of the companies belong to sharing economy such as Airbnb, a corporation which mediates accommodations. One part of the thesis is focused on the description of the Airbnb, its history and information about the current position of the company in the Czech Republic. A questionnaire, which was compiled, was available for completion in November 2019. As a target group were chosen students of universities in Brno, they were answering questions about their experiences with the Airbnb, stays with other services and personal data. Part of the paper acquaints with its process of creating the questionnaire and processing collected data. Results have been treated quantitatively and graphically. An exploratory data analysis was accomplished with model linear likeliness and logit. In the end, the results of estimated models are interpreted.
