Evaluation of technological procedures in vineyard production in the context of the carbon footprint

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá hodnocením technologických postupů ve vinohradnické produkci v kontextu uhlíkové stopy. Na základě provedeného šetření mezi pěstitelskými subjekty a dostupných dat byly sestaveny tři modelové technologické postupy respektující pěstování révy vinné v České republice. V souladu s certifikovanou metodikou byly u jednotlivých modelů stanoveny emise skleníkových plynů, které byly následně analyzovány. Práce přinesla zjištění, že hospodaření ve vinohradnické produkci blízké k přírodě a šetrné k životnímu prostředí automaticky neznamená nižší uhlíkovou stopu. V porovnání modelů technologických postupů má nejvyšší uhlíkovou stopu bioprodukce, která je způsobena větší spotřebou paliva a aplikací přípravků na ochranu rostlin s vyšší dávkou účinných látek. Nejnižší uhlíková stopa byla stanovena u integrované produkce, byť v porovnání s konvenčním způsobem hospodaření nebyly zjištěny zásadní rozdíly v celkových emisích skleníkových plynů. Práce dospěla ke zjištění, že spotřeba paliva zastává majoritní podíl při produkci skleníkových plynů ve vinohradnictví, a to nejméně ze 60 %. Práce v závěru přináší doporučení pro provozní praxi ohledně cest vedoucích ke snížení uhlíkové stopy ve vinohradnictví.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of technological procedures in vineyard production in the context of the carbon footprint. The paper compiled three models of technological procedures based on the survey conducted among the Czech winemakers. According to the certified methodology, there was determined the greenhouse gas emissions for each individual model. These models were subsequently analysed. It was revealed that more natural and friendly environmental vineyard work does not lead to lower carbon footprint. In a comparison of three models of technological procedures, the highest carbon footprint creates the bioproduction. It is caused by greater fuel consumption and also by the application of plant protection products with a higher dose of active substances. The lowest carbon footprint was determined for integrated production, although there were not found significant differences in total greenhouse gas emissions in comparison to conventional production methods. The thesis also founded that the majority of greenhouse gas production in viticulture is caused of fuel consumption - 60 % at least. The conclusion of the thesis brings several recommendations for operational practice regarding ways how to reduce the carbon footprint in viticulture.
