Surrogacy in the Czech Republic from the Midwife's Perspective

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem surogátní mateřství v České republice z pohledu porodní asistentky. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V prvním kapitole teoretické části je definováno surogátní mateřství a pojmy s ním spojené, též v závěru uvedeme průběh procesu i v zahraničí. Druhá kapitola pojednává o asistované reprodukci, včetně neplodnosti, jednotlivých procedur, které se vážou k náhradnímu mateřství, a rizik z nich vyplývajících. Poslední kapitola je zaměřena na psychologické pochody ženy při sterilitě, porodu, šestinedělí a ztrátě dítěte. V praktické části jsou popsány zkušenosti šesti surogátních matek zahrnující prožitky z vlastního těhotenství a surogace, motivace k účasti v náhradním mateřství, podporu během procesu a informovanost surogátek o proceduře. Výstupem práce je doporučení pro praxi porodní asistentky a v přílohách jsou podrobné myšlenkové mapy, které byly využity k analýze našeho kvalitativního fenomenologického průzkumu.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of surrogacy in the Czech Republic from the midwife´s perspective. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The first chapter of the theoretical part defines surrogacy and related concepts and the conclusion presents the process abroad. The second chapter deals with assisted reproduction, including infertility, the different procedures related to surrogacy and the associated risks. The last chapter focuses on the psychological processes experienced by women during infertility, childbirth, postpartum, and child loss. In the practical part, the experiences of six surrogate mothers are described, including their experiences of their own pregnancy and surrogacy, motivations for participating in surrogacy, support during the process, and surrogate mothers awareness of the procedure. The output of the thesis is recommendations for midwives practice, and the appendices contain detailed mind maps that were used to analyze our qualitative phenomenological research.
