Art realization of Zdeněk Sýkora in architecture

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem bakalářské práce s názvem Výtvarné realizace Zdeňka Sýkory v architektuře jsou výtvarné počiny tohoto umělce související s architekturou a veřejným prostorem. Věnuje se především sgrafitu v restauraci hotelu Union v Lounech, protipožární oponě lounského divadla, výzdobě ochozů budovy šaten na litvínovském koupališti, mozaice v loubí ulice Jindřišská v Praze, skleněné mozaice odvětrávacích komínů na pražské Letné, mozaice v atriu kulturního domu v Litvínově, dláždění chodníku v nizozemském městě Gorinchemu, mozaice na chodníku a stěně nákupního centra v Litvínově, výzdobě stěny vstupní haly firmy Selmoni AG ve švýcarské Basileji a výzdobě vstupní haly v budově Řízení letového provozu České republiky v Jenči u Prahy. Přibližuje a popisuje okolnosti vzniku těchto děl a jejich současný stav. Práce zmiňuje i díla realizovaná, avšak již nedochovaná. Okrajově se dotýká i prací v architektuře, které nebyly realizovány vůbec, ale je k nim možné dohledat částečné informace. Cílem je přiblížit čtenáři osobu Zdeňka Sýkory nejen jako malíře, ale i jako umělce se smyslem a citem pro výtvarné umění zakomponované do architektury.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis Zdeněk Sýkora‘s Art Implementation in Architecture deals with the artist‘s works of art which are connected to architecture and public space. It focuses mainly on the sgrafitto in the canteen on the Hotel Union, Louny; the anti-fire curtain in the theatre in Louny; the decorations of the dressing rooms building in Litvínov swimming pool; the mosaic in the arbour in Jindřišská street, Prague; the glass mosaic in the chinmneys in Letná, Prague; the mosaic in the atrium of the culture house, Litvínov; the paving in the Dutch city Gorinchem; the mosaic of the pavement and the wall in the shopping centre in Litvínov; the decoration of the entrance hall in Selmoni AG in Basel (Basle), Switzerland and the decoration of the entrance wall in the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic in Jeneč, close to Prague. It describes the circumstances which led to the creation of these pieces of art and their current situation. The thesis also mentions the pieces of art which were created but are not in existence any more. Marginally, it deals with pieces of art which were not made at all, however, it is possible to find some information about them. Its aim is to describe Zdeněk Sýkora‘s personality not only as a painter, but also as an artist with a high sense for the art as being a part of architecture.
