Heterosexism among pupils in lower-secondary education

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá pojmem heterosexismus a postoji k homosexualitě žáků v nižším sekundárním vzdělávání. Účelem teoretické části práce je nejdříve popsat problematiku homosexuální orientace, a to se všemi základními aspekty, které mohou poskytnout cestu k pochopení krystalizace heterosexismu v naší společnosti. Následně jsou rozebírány klíčové teorie heterosexismu a práce rovněž poskytuje čtenáři vhled do současné situace diskriminace odlišně orientovaných jedinců, která může přicházet jakožto následek „heterocentrického“ nastavení společnosti. Empirická část práce se pak věnuje popisu provedeného výzkumného šetření, analýze a diskuzi výsledků, jež napomohly rozluštit otázky týkající se postojů žáků nižšího sekundárního vzdělávání k homosexualitě, a tedy eventuální míře jejich heterosexistického rámce myšlení.

Abstract:

This presented thesis addresses a concept of heterosexism along with attitudes towards homosexuality among pupils in lower-secondary education. The purpose of the theoretical part is at first to describe the problematics of the homosexual orientation with all its fundamental aspects which can shed a light on a necessary way to understand the crystallization of heterosexism in our society. Subsequently the key theories of heterosexism are analyzed. Furthermore, the thesis does not omit to provide a reader with an insight into the situation of discrimination against homosexuals that is believed to be happening as a consequence of “heterocentric” beliefs in our society. The empirical part is then occupied with a thorough description of realized research, analysis and discussion of its results which ultimately helped to answer the questions concerning the attitudes towards homosexuality among pupils of lower-secondary education and thus the potential degree of their heterosexistic ambits of thinking.
