Communication with a cancer patient

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou v komunikaci s onkologicky nemocným pacientem a sdělováním onkologické diagnózy. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí. Z teoretické části a praktické. Teoretická část je rozdělena do dvou kapitol, které se člení dále. Obsahuje jednak základy obecné onkologie, epidemiologii, dělení nádorového onemocnění, diagnostiku a léčbu. Kapitola druhá obsahuje základy komunikace, její druhy, bariéry v komunikaci, sdělování nepříznivých zpráv a sdělování onkologické diagnózy. Praktická část obsahuje kvantitativní výzkum, který je prováděn dotazníkovým šetřením. Hlavním cílem bylo zjistit, jaké jsou nejčastější chyby ve sdělování onkologické diagnózy, a také chyby v komunikaci mezi zdravotnickým personálem a nemocným.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with issues in communication with a cancer patient and communicating a cancer diagnosis. The work consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is divided into two chapters, which are further divided. This first chapter covers the basics of general oncology, epidemiology, cancer classification, diagnosis and treatment. The second chapter introduces the basics of communication, the individual types, barriers to communication, communication of distressing news and communication of oncological diagnosis. The practical part presents quantitative research, which is conducted by a questionnaire survey. The main goal was to detect the most common mistakes in communicating the oncological diagnosis, as well as the errors in communication between the medical staff and the patient.
