The future and the meaning of life through the eyes of seniors

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce nese název Budoucnost a smysl života seniorů. Jejím cílem je zjistit, jak úroveň smyslu života seniorů v zařízeních následné péče ovlivňuje jejich představu o budoucnosti. Cílem teoretické části je vymezit teoretická, empirická a metodologická východiska práce k porozumění výzkumu. Skládá se ze tří kapitol. První zahrnuje zmíněná východiska práce, druhá se věnuje senioru hospitalizovaném v zařízení následné péče. Třetí kapitola je věnovaná fenoménu smysl života, zejména pak ve vztahu k hospitalizovanému seniorovi. Cílem výzkumné části diplomové práce je analyzovat úroveň vnímání smyslu života u seniorů v zařízeních následné péče a tu porovnat s představou o budoucnosti. K tomu byla využita kvantitavní výzkumná strategie, formou dotazníkového šetření. Použit byl standardizovaný test Purpose in life, a ten byl doplněn dotazníkem vlastní konstrukce.

Abstract:

This thesis is titled "The Future and the Meaning of Life for Seniors." Its aim is to determine how the level of life's meaning for seniors in post-care facilities influences their future outlook. The goal of the theoretical part is to define the theoretical, empirical, and methodological bases of the work to understand the research. It consists of three chapters. The first includes the aforementioned bases of the work, the second is dedicated to the senior hospitalized in a post-care facility, and the third chapter focuses on the phenomenon of life's meaning, especially in relation to the hospitalized senior. The aim of the research part of the thesis is to analyze the level of life's meaning perception among seniors in post-care facilities and compare this with their future outlook. A quantitative research strategy was employed, in the form of a questionnaire survey. The standardized Purpose in Life test was used and supplemented with a custom-designed questionnaire.
