Anotace:

Performativní hermeneutika a interpretační komunity: Praktiky připomínání v Budapešti Teoretický rámec disertace je inspirován kombinací silného programu v kulturní sociologii (Alexander, Smith 2003) a teorie kulturní pragmatiky (Alexander 2006) a hermeneutikou literárních teorií, jako jsou interpretační komunity (Fish 1980), procesem čtení a vztahem mezi textem a čtenářem (Iser 2000). Autor navrhuje užití estetického modelu muzea a/nebo vzpomínkových estetik pro interpretaci muzeí a památníků, které primárně užívají estetické modely v komunikaci s publikem namísto faktických vzdělávacích modelů. Teoretický rámec je využit pro porozumění vztahu mezi muzeem Dům teroru a náměstím Svobody v Budapešti skrze aktivity různých interpretačních komunit přítomných na tomto náměstí. Obecným cílem disertace je porozumění vztahu kolektivní paměti, interpretace a jednání lidí. Hlavním záměrem doktorské práce je prozkoumání role kolektivní paměti ve strukturujícím veřejném prostoru, definování interpretačních komunit a motivování lidí pro různá jednání. Práce se opírá o empirická data z rozhovorů se členy interpretačních komunit z náměstí Svobody a účastníků pozorování v Domě teroru. Zvláštní zájem je kladen na násilné události z roku 2006, kdy se odehrál útok na Památník sovětských hrdinů. Tento památník je v neustálém konfliktu mezi zájmem a interpretací. Významy a interpretace shromažďují jednotlivce do interpretačních komunit a motivují je k jednání. Zvláštní zájem je dále kladen na Památník obětem německé okupace, který nedávno vyvolal konflikt s interpretačními komunitami. Tyto dva památníky stojí naproti sobě a tvoří okruh interpretačního pole, kam komunity interpretací zvou lidi, aby sdíleli jejich interpretaci minulosti. Práce dále studuje způsob, jakým kolektivní paměť a její projevy ve formě památníků strukturují prostor na posvátný a profánní, a jak se tato kategorizace transformuje v závislosti na různých interpretačních komunitách. V tomto ohledu práce navrhuje pracovat s konceptem interpretačních komunit, který je otevřenější než strukturální kategorizace prostoru. Disertace dále usiluje o porozumění praktikám připomínání v Domě teroru a způsobu, jakým muzeum interpretuje a ukazuje minulost. Práce přichází s myšlenkou muzejní estetiky, která slouží k pochopení procesu, při kterém určitá interpretační komunita oslovuje publikum ke sdílení jejích přesvědčení, porozumění a interpretaci. Muzejní estetika je využita k porozumění vztahu mezi Domem teroru a náměstí Svobody. Autor argumentuje, že Dům teroru je novým druhem muzea, které nemůže být kritizováno na základě kritérií, které jsou založeny na tradičních muzeí. Je třeba hodnotit na různých základech. Muzejní estetika, která se soustředí na estetickou stránku reprezentace muzea, může pomoci přinést nové porozumění, jak muzea fungují a ovlivňují lidi. Spojení mezi Domem teroru a náměstím svobody je načrtnuto užitím starořeckého konceptu poiesis a praxis. Jak poiesis tak praxis jsou projevem kreativity, ne ve smyslu materiálním, ale duševním. Na základě prezentace konceptu „double occupation“ autor argumentuje, že Dům teroru je podobný myšlence poiesis, ve smyslu vynášení něčeho ze stínu na světlo skrze kreativní jednání. Koncept „double occupation“ není nový, ale byl marginalizován. V tomto smyslu je zrození myšlenky považováno za poietické jednání. Kreativní akt praxis je reflektován v tvorbě interpretací a reinterpretací minulosti ve světle poiesis. Vznik interpretačních komunit a Památníku obětem německé okupace také podporuje interpretaci, ačkoli interpretační komunita je založena konkrétními členy a památník je materiální. D

Abstract:

The theoretical frame of the dissertation is inspired by the combination of the Strong Program in cultural sociology (Alexander, Smith 2003) and cultural pragmatics theory (Alexander 2006), and by the hermeneutics of literary theories, such as interpretive communities (Fish 1980), the reading process and the relation between the text and the reader (Iser 2000). The author suggests using the aesthetic model of museum and/or memorial aesthetics to interpret museums and memorials that primarily use aesthetic models in communication with the audience instead of factual educative models. The theoretical frame is used to understand the relation of the House of Terror Museum and Liberty Square in Budapest through the activities of various interpretive communities present on the square. The general aim of the dissertation is to understand the relation of collective memory, interpretation and the actions of people. The main objectives of the doctoral thesis are to explore the role of collective memory in structuring public space, defining interpretive communities and motivating people for various actions. The thesis leans on empirical data from interviews with members of interpretive communities from Liberty Square and participant observation in the House of Terror Museum. Particular interest is paid to the violent events of 2006 when the Soviet Heroic Memorial was attacked. This memorial is in constant conflict between interest and interpretation. The meanings and interpretations collect individuals into interpretive communities and motivate them for action. Also, particular interest is paid to the Memorial to the Victims of German Occupation that is recently in conflict with interpretive communities. The two memorials stand opposite to each other and create a circle of interpretive field where communities of interpretation invite people to share their interpretation of the past. Furthermore, the thesis studies the way collective memory and its manifestations, in the form of memorials, structure space into sacred and profane and how this categorization transforms according to various interpretive communities. In this regard, the thesis suggests working with the concept of interpretive communities, which is more open than the structural categorization of space. The thesis also aims to understand commemoration practices in the House of Terror Museum and the way museum interprets and exhibits the past. The idea of museum aesthetics is developed in order to understand the process of inviting the audience to share beliefs, understandings and interpretation of a particular interpretive community. Museum aesthetics is used to understand the relation between the House of Terror Museum and Liberty Square. The author argues that the House of Terror Museum is a new kind of museum that cannot be criticized by criteria based on other traditional museums. There is a need to evaluate on different grounds. Museum aesthetics that focuses on the aesthetic side of museum representation can help to bring new understanding on how museums work and influence people. The link between the House of Terror Museum and Liberty Square is drawn by using the ancient Greek concepts of poiesis and praxis. Both poiesis and praxis are acts of creativity, not in the meaning of materiality but mentally. The author argues that the House of Terror Museum, by presenting the concept of double occupation, is similar to the idea of poiesis, in terms of bringing something to the light from the shadow through a creative act. The concept of double occupation is not new but was marginalized. In this respect, bringing forth the idea is regarded as a poietic act. The creative act of praxis is reflected in the production of interpretation or reinterpretation of the past in the light of poiesis. The appearance of interpretive communities and the Memorial to the Victims of German Occupation also supports interpretation although the interpretive community is stated from concrete members
