Islam in Somali Culture

Abstract:

Somálské kultuře a somálskému dějinnému vývoji je v české odborné literatuře věnováno vcelku velmi málo pozornosti. Souhrnná monografie o dějinách Somálska dosud v češtině nevyšla a publikace mapující dějiny islámského světa tuto oblast prakticky opomíjejí. Cílem této práce je pokusit se částečně vyplnit tuto mezeru s hlavním zaměřením na islám. Islám v somálské kultuře bude podroben analýze, s důrazem na jeho vybrané formy a specifika. Hlavním záměrem je zodpovědět otázku, do jaké míry je nebo není islám neodmyslitelnou součástí života a sebeidentifikace Somálců, jakým způsobem jejich životy ovlivňoval nebo ovlivňuje a zda je adekvátní hovořit o somálském islámu, jako ojedinělém fenoménu. Prostor je věnován somálskému súfismu, vztahu mezi islámskou ortodoxií a somálským praktikováním islámu, ale i moderním islámským proudům a trendům 20. a 21. století (tradicionalistům, reformistům, fundamentalistům aj.).

Abstract:

Somalian culture and Somalian historical development have been as yet given very little attention by Czech profesional authors. An overall monographic work on Somalian history has up to now not been published and works maping the history of the Islam world neglect this country completely. It is Islam in Somalian culture that will be here subjected to analysis, with emphasis on selected forms and specific aspects. My main intention is to look for an answer to the question to what degree Islam is or is not an inseparable part of everyday life and selfidentification of Somalian people, in what way their lives have been or still are affected by it and if it seems adequate to speak of Somalian Islam as an unique phenomenon. A substantial place will be dedicated to Somalian Sufism, to the relation between Islam orthodoxy and Somalian Islam practices as well as to modern Islam streams and trends of the 20th and 21st centuries (traditionalists, reformists, fundamentalists, etc.).
