Literar Mystification and it's Function in Late Work of Ladislav Fuks (1970-80's)

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na literární mystifikaci v pozdním díle Ladislava Fukse. Z celého období vybíráme dvě díla, Myši Natálie Mooshabrové a Vévodkyni a kuchařku, v nichž je mystifikace ústředním elementem umělecké výstavby románu. Sledujeme genezi mystifikace a její funkci v díle: mystifikace odvádí pozornost čtenáře od ústřední dějové linie, udržuje jej v nejistotě, vytváří napětí a systémem falešných náznaků čtenáře soustavně zavádí na špatnou stopu. Zastírá tak nejen identitu hlavní postavy, ale také podstatu celého románu.

Abstract:

The thesis has been focused on the literary mystification in late works of Ladislav Fuks. Out of the whole period, only two works are selected, Natalia Mooshabers Mice (Myši Natálie Mooshabrové) and The Duchess and the Cook (Vévodkyně a kuchařka), where the mystification is a crucial element of the art structure of the novel. We follow genesis of mystification and its function in Fuks work: it leads the readers attention out of the main plot line, it keeps him in uncertainty, creates tension, and it systematically leads the reader to a false track by a system of false suggestions. Hence the mystification hides the main characters identity, but also the essence of the whole novel.
