Social networks as a phenomenon of self-presentation (focusing on the Instagram social network)

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce mapuje hlavní témata sebeprezentace aktivních uživatelů sociální sítě Instagram, jejichž věk se pohybuje od 20 do 30 let a žijí na území České republiky. Práce zkoumá obsah, který vybraní uživatelé aktivně sdílejí. Práce odpovídá na otázky typu, co je záměrem jejich sdílení obsahu, co na této sociální síti sledují, kolik průměrně tráví času na Instagramu v rozmezí dne, a jak často na tuto sociální síť přidávají příspěvky. V teoretické části se autorka věnuje zejména představení sociálních sítí, Facebooku a Instagramu, jejich fungování a atributům. Dále je zde přiblížena sebeprezentace a zejména sebeprezentace na sociálních sítích.

Abstract:

This thesis charts the main themes of self-presentation of active users of the social network Instagram, who range in age from 20 to 30 and live in the Czech Republic. The thesis examines the content that selected users actively share. The work answers questions like what is the intent of their content sharing, what they watch on this social network, how much average time they spend on Instagram in the space of a day, and how often they add posts to this social network. In the theoretical part, the author focuses mainly on the introduction of social networks, Facebook and Instagram, their functioning and attributes. Furthermore, self-presentation and, in particular, self-presentation on social networks is approached.
