Gemmination as the phonemic process on the examples from the development of Romance and Indian languages
Abstract:
Cílem této práce je analýza a porovnání hláskových změn, které vedly ke vzniku geminovaných souhlásek v románských a středoindických jazycích. V obou těchto případech zůstávají zachovány některé gemináty z předchozích stadií vývoje, vznikají však mnohé nové, zejména úplnou asimilací konsonantických skupin.
Abstract:
The objective of this thesis is to analyse and compare the sound changes that produced the geminate consonants in the Romance languages and in the Middle Indo-Aryan languages. In both cases, some geminate consonants remain from the earlier stages, but many new ones appear, especially but not exclusively in the process of complete assimilation of consonant clusters.
