Intelligence services of the Czech Republic and use of open sources in intelligence activity

Abstract:

Práce se zaobírá zpravodajstvím, zpravodajskými službami České republiky, zpravodajskými technikami a využitím otevřených zdrojů ve zpravodajství. Jedním z cílů bakalářské práce je vymezení zpravodajských služeb na našem území a zpravodajské činnosti obecně. Hlavním cílem práce je popsat jeden z možných přístupů k práci s otevřenými zdroji a jejich využitím při vyšetřování a objasňování skutečné identity tří důstojníků ruské vojenské rozvědky. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. V první kapitole se autor soustředí na základní pojmy spojené se zpravodajstvím, v další kapitole se věnuje Bezpečnostní informační službě, Úřadu pro zahraniční styky a informace, a Vojenskému zpravodajství. Ve třetí kapitole autor charakterizuje vybrané zpravodajské techniky. Poslední část práce je zaměřena na naplnění hlavního cíle práce, autor zde popíše konkrétní případ, při jehož vyšetřování byly použity otevřené zdroje skupinou Bellingcat, která je využila při vyšetřování pravé identity tří ruských zpravodajských důstojníků.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with intelligence, intelligence services of the Czech Republic, intelligence techniques and the use of open sources in intelligence. One of the aims of the bachelor thesis is to define the intelligence services in our country and intelligence activities in general. The main aim of the thesis is to describe one possible approach to working with open sources and their use in the investigation and clarification of the real identity of three Russian military intelligence officers. The thesis is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, the author focuses on the basic concepts associated with intelligence, and in the next chapter he discusses the Security Information Service, the Office of Foreign Relations and Information, and Military Intelligence. In the third chapter, the author characterizes selected intelligence techniques. The last part of the thesis is aimed at fulfilling the main objective of the thesis, the author will describe a specific case in which open sources were used by the Bellingcat group to investigate the true identity of three Russian intelligence officers.
