Masaryk's cult of political leader and its development relating to establishment of communist regime in Czechoslovakia

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá kultem T. G. Masaryka, jakožto politického vůdce. První část představuje základní prvky teorie kultu politického vůdce a problematiky politického vůdcovství obecně. Druhá část se věnuje charakteristice Masarykova kultu z hlediska jeho obsahu, projevů, geneze i zařazení v rámci teorie politického vůdcovství. Třetí část popisuje a analyzuje vztah komunistického režimu v Československu, v prvních letech po jeho nastolení, k tomuto Masarykovu kultu. Výzkumným cílem práce je: 1) analyzovat, zda Masarykův kult splňuje některý z definičních aspektů teorie kultu osobnosti, využívané při analýze nedemokratických režimů 2) analyzovat, zda lze vztah nastupujícího komunistického režimu v Československu k osobnosti/kultu T. G. Masaryka označit za konstantní

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the cult of T. G. Masaryk as a political leader. The first part presents the basic elements of the theory of the political leader’s cult and copes with the problematic of the political leadership in general. The second part of the thesis focuses on the Masaryk’s cult in terms of its content, manifestations, genesis and its congruency with the theory of the political leadership. The third part describes and analyses the relationship of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia (during the first years after its establishment) to the Masaryk’s cult. The aim of this thesis is: 1) to analyze whether the Masaryk’s cult meets some of the defining aspects of the theory of the cult of personality, which is used in the analysis of non-democratic regimes 2) to analyze whether the relationship of the incoming communist regime in Czechoslovakia to the Masaryk’s cult was constant
