Synthesis and use of new substituted benzoquinones

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se především zabývá přípravou dosud neznámých 6-substituovaných-2-methyl-p-benzochinonů. Teoretická část obsahuje obecný popis reaktivity a vlastností benzochinonů. Syntetické přístupy k benzochinonům a jejich aplikace v Dielsově-Alderově reakci jsou rovněž zmíněny. Experimentální úsilí spočívalo v prozkoumání rozsahu Suzukiho cross-couplingu disubstituovaných p-benzochinonů s vybranými boritými kyselinami. Zmíněna je také příprava p-benzochinonů s netriviálními substituenty pomocí různých syntetických přístupů. V poslední části experimentální práce byla zkoumána regioselektivita vybraných p-benzochinonů v Dielsově-Alderově reakci s modelovým dienem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is mainly focused on preparation of hitherto unknown 6-substituted-2-methyl-p-benzoquinones. The theoretical part describes properties and reactivity of p-benzoquinones. Synthetic strategies to benzoquinones are mentioned as well as application of the benzoquinones in the Diels-Alder reaction. The experimental effort consisted of examining the scope of Suzuki cross-coupling of disubstituted p-benzoquinones with selected boronic acids and on preparation of p-benzoquinones with non-trivial substituent. Novel benzoquinones underwent the Diels-Alder reaction with model diene and the regioselectivity outcome is briefly discussed.
