Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá lekcemi peloponéské války, kterou nám zanechal Thukydides ve své knize. Peloponéská válka je střet, který se odehrál před více jak dvěma tisíci lety ve kterém bojovali Athény a Sparta o post nejsilnějšího státu v tehdejším antickém Řecku. Tento střet popsal athénský historik Thukydides. Právě vydání Thukydidova díla mělo za následek, že se mnoho politologů inspirovalo ve vytváření svých teorií a zároveň vznikla realistická teorie. Vzniklá realistická teorie si nárokuje Thukydida za svého zakladatele, která má ale mnoho problémů. Samotní realisté, neumí přesně určit v čem je vlastně Thukydidovo dílo tak unikátní. Zakládajícím prvkem všech základních realistických teorií, které jsou známé všem realistům, je často poukazováno, zda je Thukydides v dnešní době stále relevantní a zda nám peloponéské války mají stále, co nabídnou.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the lessons of the Peloponnesian War, which Thucydides left us in his book. The Peloponnesian War is a conflict that took place more than two thousand years ago, in which Athens and Sparta fought for the position of the strongest state in ancient Greece at the time. This clash was described by the Athenian historian Thucydides. It was the publication of Thucydides' work that resulted in many political scientists being inspired in the creation of their theories and at the same time a realist theory was created. The resulting realist theory claims Thucydides as its founder, but it has many problems. The realists themselves cannot determine exactly what makes Thucydides' work so unique. A foundational element of all basic realist theories, familiar to all realists, it is often pointed out whether Thucydides is still relevant today and whether the Peloponnesian Wars still have something to offer us.
