Milan Kundera and his Conception of the Novel

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá reflexemi Milana Kundery na téma román (žánr), jejich analýzou a včleněním do širšího literárněvědného kontextu. První část práce představuje krátce knihy esejí, do nichž Kundera soustředil své úvahy o románu, Umění románu (1986), Zrazené testamenty (1992), Opona (2005) a Setkání (2009). Druhá část sleduje klíčová témata v Kunderově pojetí románu a poukazuje na jejich souvislosti zejm. s pracemi Michaila M. Bachtina, René Girarda a Tomáše Kulky.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with Milan Kundera’s reflections on the theme of the novel (genre), their analysis and incorporation into the wider literary context. The first part shortly introduces books of essays, where Kundera centred his thoughts on the novel, The Art of the Novel (1986), Testaments Betrayed (1992), Curtain (2005) and Encounter (2009). Second part focuses on the main themes in Kundera’s concept of the novel and points out their connections esp. with the works of Michail M. Bachtin, René Girard and Tomáš Kulka.
