Conflicts in the Sahara and Sahel region at present – focus on the states of the G5 Sahel

Anotace:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou současných konfliktů v Sahelu, s důrazem na státy sdružení G5 Sahel. Cílem práce je zkoumat příčiny vzniku konfliktů v této oblasti, stejně jako hodnotit úspěšnost projektu G5 Sahel v řešení bezpečnostních hrozeb. Vzhledem k rostoucímu významu této oblasti v kontextu mezinárodní bezpečnosti a geopolitiky je důležité porozumět faktorům, které přispívají k nestabilitě a identifikovat klíčové aktéry působící proti bezpečnosti a stabilitě. Metody výzkumu zahrnují rešerši dostupných zdrojů, analýzu dokumentů a dat z oblasti. Vyhodnocení výsledků analýzy poskytne důležité poznatky pro formování politik a strategií v oblasti bezpečnosti a rozvoje Sahelu a podpoří lepší porozumění komplexní povaze konfliktů v tomto regionu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of current conflicts in the Sahel region, with a focus on the member states of the G5 Sahel organization. The aim of the thesis is to examine the causes of conflicts in this area, as well as to evaluate the success of the G5 Sahel project in addressing security threats. Given the increasing importance of this area in the context of international security and geopolitics, it is important to understand the factors contributing to instability and identify key actors working against security and stability. Research methods include literature review of available sources, analysis of documents, and data from the region. The evaluation of the analysis results will provide important insights for shaping policies and strategies in the field of security and development in the Sahel region and support a better understanding of the complex nature of conflicts in this region.
