Application of Static and Dynamic Contact Angle of Wetting Meassurements for Determination of Surface Free Energy of Inorganic and Polymer Based Substrates

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci byla v literární části řešena především problematika kontaktního úhlu smáčení a povrchové energie. Byly popsány základní vztahy a problémy fázového roz-hraní s důrazem na rozhraní pevná látka ? kapalina. Velká část je také věnována popisu me-tod měření kontaktního úhlu smáčení, a to jak přímými tak i nepřímými metodami. Závěr rešeršní práce je věnován přístupům k výpočtu povrchové energie pro pevný povrch. Experimentální část se věnuje měřením statických kontaktních úhlů smáčení pomocí metody sedící kapky a dynamických kontaktních úhlů smáčení pomocí Washburnovy metody. Pro měření byly použity vzorky PE, PP, PS, PVC a kaolinu, které byly různě modifikovány (UV záření, plazmování).

Abstract:

The theoretical part of this thesis provides the knowledge of wetting contact angle and sur-face energy. There is a description of basic problems of phase interactions and interface with emphasis on the solid ? liquid interface. A large section of the theoretical part is devoted to description of wetting contact angle measurements, both direct and indirect methods. At the end of the theoretical part there are some possible approaches of calculating the surface energy of solid state. The experimental part of the thesis is focused on the static contact angles of wetting measu-rements using the sessile drop and dynamic contact angles of wetting by Washburn method. For the measurement, there were used samples of PE, PP, PS, PVC and kaolin, which have been variously modified (UV radiation, plazma).
