Abstract:

The master thesis deals with Tommy Orange's novel There There and its main objective is to analyse four male characters based on trauma analysis. In the theoretical part, the thesis briefly introduces the author of the novel and the novel itself, and discusses the historical development of Native American literature. Also, it provides an overview of characteristics of modern Native American prose and sets There There in its context. Furthermore, the thesis briefly compares There There with other novels written by Native American authors. Moreover, trauma analysis is introduced in this part. In the practical part, the thesis deals with trauma analysis of four young male characters, with the main aim being the analysis of trauma.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá knihou Tam Tam Tommyho Orange a jejím hlavním cílem je analýza čtyř mužských postav pomocí trauma analýzy. V teoretické části se práce krátce věnuje popisu knihy i jejího autora. Práce se dále zabývá popisem historického vývoje prózy původních Američanů a shrnuje charakteristické rysy moderní prózy původních Američanů. Mimo to práce zasazuje knihu Tam Tam do kontextu prózy původních Američanů a srovnává ji s ostatními knihami napsanými původními Američany a dále práce představuje a popisuje vybranou analýzu. V praktické části se práce věnuje trauma analýze čtyř mladých mužských postav z knihy Tam Tam s cílem zanalyzovat trauma.
