Companies preparedness for changes in the external environment

Abstract:

The master’s dissertation ,,Companies preparedness for changes in the external environment‘‘discusses the external environment, specifically focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic, and its effect on the operation of the selected company, which is Arcadia Boutique Hotel. The aim of the thesis is to provide the company with concrete steps that would help it to return to its pre-pandemic state. A return to pre-pandemic values could help the company meet the challenges posed by the external environment in future. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first, theoretical part, basic concepts that are relevant to the thesis topic, are clarified. The second, analytical part, analyses the external environment of the company and is concluded with semi-structuralized interviews with professionals from the hotel industry. The third, proposal part, based on knowledge obtained from the theoretical and analytical part, creates a specific set of suggestions on how the company/business could get back to its pre-pandemic state, by, for instance addressing a new segment, creating loyalty, connecting with the domestic market or diversifying supply. The thesis focuses on one selected company in order for it to reap practical benefits from the proposal part.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca ,, Připravenost podniků na změny ve vnějším prostředí ‘‘ poukazuje na vonkajšie prostredie so zameraním na pandémiu COVID - 19, ktoré ovplyvňuje chod vybraného podniku Arcadia Boutique Hotel. Cieľom diplomovej práce je poskytnúť podniku konkrétne kroky, ktoré by dopomohli ku návratu do pred-pandemického stavu. Návrat ku hodnotám pred pandémiou môže podniku pomôcť v budúcnosti čeliť výzvam, ktoré neustále prináša vonkajšie prostredie. Práca sa delí do troch častí. V prvej, teoretickej časti sú objasnené základné pojmy, ktoré sú relevantné pre tému diplomovej práce. Analytická časť práce sa zaoberá analýzou vonkajšieho prostredia podniku a je ukončená semi-štrukturalizovanými rozhovormi s profesionálmi z oboru hotelierstva. Tretia, návrhová časť na základe poznatkov z teoretickej a analytickej časti vytvára konkrétnu sadu návrhov, ako by sa podnik mohol dostať naspäť na pred-pandemický stav, ako je oslovenie nového segmentu, vytváranie lojality, prepojenie s domácim trhom alebo diverzifikácia ponuky. Diplomová práca sa zameriava na jeden vybraný podnik, aby preňho svojou návrhovou časťou mal prakticky prínos.
