Analysis of new principles in the regulation of basel III

Abstract:

Primárním cílem diplomové práce je zhodnocení, zda nová pravidla v rámci regulace Basel III budou pro ekonomiku přínosem, nebo zda budou působit negativně. V této práci je však řešeno několik dílčích cílů. Autorovi jde o porovnání principů Basel II a Basel III, vytipování situací, ve kterých mohou nové principy škodit ekonomice a zjištění, co ve skutečnosti nová pravidla budou znamenat pro český bankovní sektor a pro banky v globálním měřítku. V praktické části je analyzován český bankovní sektor a vzorek zahraničních bank hlediska připravenosti na nová pravidla Basel III. Dosaženo je toho tím způsobem, že je porovnáván současný stav bank s požadavky podle regulace Basel III.

Abstract:

The primary objective of this thesis is to evaluate whether the new rules under the Basel III regulation will be beneficial for the economy, or whether it will have a negative effect. In this work several objectives are solved. The author goes on to compare the principles of Basel II and Basel III, the identification of situations in which new principles may harm the economy and determine what the new rules will mean for the Czech banking sector and banks on a global scale. In the practical part of this thesis there is analysis of readiness of the Czech banking sector and a sample of foreign banks for the new Basel III rules. This is achieved by comparison between the current state of the banks and the requirements of Basel III regulation.
