The development of chronic wound care in the 19th to 21st centuries from the perspective of a general nurse

Abstract:

Teoretický charakter diplomové práce má za cíl analyzovat vývoj péče o chronické rá-ny z pohledu všeobecné sestry v 19. až 21. století. Práce je zpracována analýzou dat a bibliografických zdrojů s následným vypracováním interpretativního textu. Stanovili jsme si problém, kterým se chceme zabývat: Jak se vyvíjela péče o chronické rány v le-tech 1800 - 2019? Cílem práce je zmapovat vývoj materiálů používaných k ošetření ran. V 19. století dochází k průlomu v ošetřovatelství. Ženy zaujímají nové postavení v me-dicíně a zakládají se ošetřovatelské školy. Ošetřovatelství se stává povoláním. V tomto období k rozvoji medicíny, a ošetřovatelství zvlášť, přispěly objevy mikrobiologa a za-kladatele bakteriologie Roberta Kocha, mikrobiologa a objevitele tepelné sterilizace Louise Pasteura, lékaře a objevitele antisepse Josepha Listera, lékaře a objevitele penici-linu Alexandrem Fleminga a mnohých dalších. 20. a 21. století je významné objevem nových materiálů, umožňujících nový, aktivnější přístup k hojení, známý pod termínem vlhké hojení ran a zavedením dalších léčebných metod ( podtlaková léčba, bioknife, laser a pod.)

Abstract:

The theoretical character of the diploma thesis aims to analyze the development of chronic wound care from the perspective of a general nurse in the 19th to 21st century. The work is processed by analysis of data and bibliographic sources with subsequent elab-oration of an interpretive text. We have identified a problem that we want to address: How did the care of chronic wounds develop in the years 1800 - 2019? The aim of this work is to map the development of materials used to treat wounds. In the 19th century, there was a breakthrough in nursing. Women are taking on a new position in medicine and nursing schools are being set up. Nursing is becoming a profession. During this period, the discoveries of microbiologist and founder of becteriol-ogy, Robert Koch, microbiologist and discoverer of heat sterilization, Louis Pasteur, sur-geon and discoverer of antisepsis, Joseph Lister, physician and discoverer of penicillin, Alexander Fleming and many others, contributed to the development of medicine, and nursing in particular. The 20th and 21st centuries are significant with the discovery of new materials en-abling a new, more active approach to healing, known as wet wound healing and the in-troduction of other treatment methods (vacuum therapy, bioknife, laser, etc.)
