The Macroeconomic imbalance procedure, initiated by European commission as a result of the financial and sovereign debt crisis, classifies Italy as a country with excessive macroeconomic imbalances. The aim of the thesis is to identify the main macroeconomic imbalance and present government's proposals for its removal.
