Can Nuclear Power Be Called a Green Energy Source? Methods for Increasing Argumentation and Communication Skills in GFL Lessons

Abstract:

The degree candidate will get acquainted with the methodological basis of the use of debating in the teaching of German as a foreign language. He will propose a method of qualitative research on teachers' and students' experiences with this activating method in foreign language teaching. He will prepare materials for a debating practice at A2/B1 level on the topic of the compatibility between nuclear energy and environmental sustainability. At the grammar school where he is completing his teaching practice, he will compare the results of teams in relation to the length and systematicity of the preparation on environmental topics. He will try to find an answer to the question to what extent the ability to listen, critical thinking and assessing of information found is crucial for successful debating at the A2/B1 level, thus in a stage when often working with language resources, that have been a part of the schooling, is still predominant.

Abstract:

Diplomand se seznámí s metodologickými východisky využití debatování ve výuce němčiny jako cizího jazyka. Navrhne způsob kvalitativního šetření o zkušenostech vyučujících i studentů s touto aktivizační metodou výuky cizího jazyka. Připraví materiály pro nácvik debatování na úrovni A2/B1 na téma slučitelnosti jaderné energetiky a ekologické udržitelnosti. Na gymnáziu, kde absolvuje svou pedagogickou praxi, srovná výsledky týmů ve vztahu k délce a systematičnosti přípravy na ekologická témata. Pokusí se najít odpověď na otázku, nakolik schopnost naslouchání, kritického myšlení a vyhodnocování nalezených informací je rozhodující pro úspěšné debatování na jazykové úrovni A2/B1, tedy ve fázi, kdy často ještě převládá práce s jazykovými prostředky, které byly součástí výuky.
