Impact of EU Memebership on Hungarian Economy

Abstract:

The European Union has already been a dominant factor of world politics and economy, and this role is intensifying with the joining of more member-states in the near future. It implies significant international influence and power which was possessed only by the historical empires earlier. However the Union basically differs from these previous great powers, because its development was not accompanied by wars, colonization or sweeping conquests. There was no state that subjugated other countries, there was no nation that merged into other nations, and there was no country that disappeared from the map. The European Union is a federation which all members have joined voluntarily, serving their own interests. It’s a federation establishing closer relations between its members in accordance with the members’ capability. A federation which leaves its countries’ sovereignty, apart from the fact that it creates a unit, and it is compeletely unique of its kind.

Abstract:

Európska únia je už aj v súčasnosti určujúcim faktorom svetovej politiky a ekonomiky, a to sa v budúcnosti bude ďalej stupňovať v dôsledku pristúpenia nových členských štátov. Následkom toho je jej mimoriadne veľký medzinárodný vplyv a moc, ktorými predtým disponovali len historické veľmoci. Únia sa však podstatne líši od týchto bývalých veľmocí, pretože jej vznik nebol sprevádzaný vojnami, kolonizáciami alebo dobývaniami, ktoré zmiatli všetko. Ani jeden štát nezotročil druhý štát, ani jeden národ nesplynul s iným národom a z mapy nezmizla ani jedna krajina. Európska únia je spoločenstvo, ku ktorému jej členovia pristupujú dobrovoľne, a tým slúžia vlastným záujmom. Je to spoločenstvo, ktoré vzťahy medzi jej členmi vytvára postupne, tak, ako to pripravenosť členov dovoľuje. Spoločenstvo, ktoré ponecháva jej členom suverenitu a popritom vytvára celok, ktorý je svojím druhom celkom ojedinelý.
