Architecture and urbanism of the center of Krnov. Construction of a circular avenue on the site of demolished walls.

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci se zabývám budováním okružní třídy v Krnově a vzniklé architektuře na přelomu 19. a 20. století. Dále rozebírám problém urbanismu, jenž postihl rozrůstající se města v polovině 19. století. Uvádím tři koncepty řešení tohoto problému, a to na Paříži, New Yorku a Vídni. Právě vídeňský koncept - okružní třídy dále rozvíjím a uvádím pár příkladů vzniklých staveb. Podobu okružních tříd s vybranými stavbami popisuji i u měst Brna a Opavy. U Krnova se snažím popsat, jak samotný urbanizační proces v kontextu doby, vymezení okružní třídy, tak také podoby vybraných staveb.

Abstract:

In my bachelor's thesis, I deal with the construction of the circular road in Krnov and the architecture created at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Next, I analyze the problem of urbanism that affected growing cities in the middle of the 19th century. I present three concepts for solving this problem, in Paris, New York and Vienna. I am further developing the Viennese concept - circular roads and presenting a few examples of the resulting buildings. I also describe the shape of circular streets with selected buildings in the cities of Brno and Opava. At Krnov, I try to describe both the urbanization process itself in the context of the time, as well as the form of selected buildings and circular road.
