Abstract:

The objective of the bachelor thesis was to provide a brief insight into the language variations of American English. To achieve a goal of illustrating a complex overview of the theme, a variety of sources were used, which provided different reflections from fields of history, morphology, phonology, and lexis. The theory is supported by examples. The thesis consists of three main chapters. The first one provides in the main body a brief historical insight. The second one is divided into four large subchapters, which deal with the dialects, their features and their characteristics, and are accompanied with a number of examples. The last chapter uses a sample text of a selected original author, to bring a dialect into a real context. The Southern dialects, including African American Vernacular English, were concluded to be the most distinctive; the practical third chapter provides a reflection of these two.

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo poskytnout stručný náhled na jazykové variace americké angličtiny. Za účelem zdárného doložení komplexního přehledu, bylo použito množství zdrojů, které poskytovaly pohledy ze strany historie, morfologie, fonologie a slovní zásoby. Teorie byla podporována příklady. Práce sestává ze tří hlavních kapitol. První kapitola ve svém jádru poskytuje stručný historický přehled. Druhá část je rozdělena na čtyři podskupiny, které se věnují dialektům, jejich znakům a charakteristikám, a jsou doprovázeny množstvím příkladů. V poslední kapitole je použit vzorový text původního amerického autora, aby bylo poukázáno na dialekt v praktickém měřítku. Jižní dialekty, včetně Afro-Americké angličtiny, vyšli jako nejvíce odlišné, proto třetí kapitola poskytuje odraz právě těchto dvou.
