Environmental impacts of spatial expansion of chain stores in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá evidencí a analýzou environmentálních dopadů prostorové expanze nákupních řetězců (konkrétně výstavby velkoplošných prodejen) v České republice. Důraz je kladen na zhodnocení dopadů expanze na fungování a strukturu krajinných ekosystémů, a tím i na humánní životní prostředí. Environmentální dopady jsou hodnoceny nejprve z celkového hlediska, a to na základě evidence a analýzy vlivů realizovaných velkoplošných maloobchodních zařízení v letech 2003 – 2009 na životní prostředí (zábor volných ploch, urban sprawl, doprava apod.). Detailní hodnocení (vliv na změny struktury a fungování krajiny včetně toků energie a látek a vazeb na okolní krajinu) je provedeno v modelovém území Brno-Ivanovice, kde se nachází velký hypermarket a další nákupní zařízení ve výstavbě. Získané poznatky jsou pak využity pro návrh územního plánu městské části Brno-Ivanovice a návrh změn v Územním plánu města Brna.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the documentation and analysis of environmental impacts of spatial expansion of the chain stores (namely the construction of large scale stores) in the Czech Republic. Emphasis is placed on assessing the impact of expansion on the functioning and structure of landscape ecosystems, and thus the human environment. Environmental impacts are evaluated first overall, based on evidence and analysis of the effects of implemented large-scale retail facilities in the years 2003 - 2009 on environment (localization on the free land, urban sprawl, transportation, etc.). Detailed assessment (impact of changes in the structure and functioning of landscapes, including flows of energy and materials and links to the surrounding landscape) is done in the model territory of Brno-Ivanovice, where there is a large hypermarket and other shopping facilities under construction. The knowledge gained is then used to draft of territory plan of Brno-Ivanovice and design changes in the territory plan for the city Brno.
