Prevention of obesity long before conception - the effect of the mother's diet on the weight of the child

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje problematice, jak může žena ovlivnit tělesnou hmotnost svého dítěte ještě před jeho početím. Na začátku teoretické části je objasněn mechanismus, díky kterému je tento jev pravděpodobně možný. Dále se práce zaměřuje na faktory životního stylu ženy, které mohou ovlivňovat tělesnou hmotnost jejího dítěte v budoucnu. Kratší část je věnována i mužům a ostatním faktorům. Následuje srovnání s obdobím těhotenství a kapitola věnovaná intervenci. Praktická část se zabývá povědomím studentek lékařských fakult o obezitogenních faktorech v prekoncepčním období.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the issue of how a woman’s diet can affect the body weight of her child before its conception. The beginning of the theoretical part explains the mechanism thanks to which is this phenomenon probably possible. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on woman’s lifestyle factors that may affect her child's body weight in the future. Smaller part is also devoted to men and other factors, followed by a comparison of preconception with the pregnancy period and a chapter focused on intervention. The practical part deals with the medical student’s awareness of obesogenic factors in the preconception period.
