Comparison of dendrogeomorphic approaches for reconstruction of landslide chronologies

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on the use and subsequent comparison of different methods of dendrogeomorphology in the study of landslide activity. The trees whose wood cores were used for this research are located on a landslide in Bílá. A total of 60 drilling core samples were taken from 30 different trees. Three dendrogeomorphological methods were then used on the processed samples to create landslide chronologies. The method using growth disturbance analysis (reaction wood and growth suppression) recorded 100 events of landslide activity, the method analysing the eccentricity described by Šilhán et al. (2014) of 60 events and the method according to Braam et al. (1987) also analysing the eccentricity of 222 events. Using the calculation of the It index, the first method showed 14 years in which the examined landslide was active, the second method showed 6 years and the third 39 years. The calculation of the recurrence interval and the transfer of its results to the space showed the places where the repetition of slope movements was most frequent. Each method showed different results. The recurrences of all three methods were then compared together. In this case, the method of analysis of growth disturbances and the method of analysis of eccentricity according to Braam et al. showed the greatest match. Research into the level of inclination of tree trunks has shown us the lower part to be the most active part of the landslide.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová práca je zameraná na využitie a následné porovnanie rôznych metód dendrogeomorfológie pri skúmaní zosuvnej aktivity. Stromy, ktorých drevné jadrá boli využité na tento výskum sa nachádzajú na zosuve v obci Bílá. Celkovo tu bolo odobraných 60 vzoriek vrtných jadier z 30 rôznych stromov. Na spracovaných vzorkách boli následne použité tri dendrogeomorfologické metódy na zostavenie zosuvných chronológií. Metóda využívajúca analýzu rastových disturbancií (reakčné drevo a náhle zúženie letokruhov) zaznamenala 100 udalostí zosuvnej aktivity, metóda analyzujúca excentricitu opísaná Šilhánom a kol. (2014) 60 udalostí a metóda podľa Braama a kol. (1987) taktiež analyzujúca excentricitu 222 udalostí. Pomocou vypočítania It indexu prvá metóda preukázala 14 rokov, v ktorých bol skúmaný zosuv aktívny, druhá metóda preukázala 6 rokov a tretia 39 rokov. Vypočítanie rekurenčného intervalu a prevedenie jeho výsledkov do priestoru nám ukázalo miesta, kde bolo opakovanie svahových pohybov najčastejšie. Pričom každá metóda ukázala iné výsledky. Rekurencie všetkých troch metód boli následne spolu porovnané. V tomto prípade najväčšiu zhodu vykazovala metóda analýzy rastových disturbancií a metóda analýzy excentricity podľa Braama a kol. Výskum úrovne naklonenia kmeňov stromov nám preukázal ako najaktívnejšiu časť zosuvu jeho spodnú časť.
