Workplace Stress and Workload of Social Workers in the Department of Assistance in Material Need

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na vlastní zvládání pracovního stresu a zátěže sociálními pracovníky na oddělení dávek hmotné nouze. Cílem práce bylo odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „Jakými vlastními způsoby sociální pracovníci na agendě hmotné nouze zvládají pracovní stres a zátěž?“ Diplomová práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních částí – na část teoretickou, část metodologickou a část interpretační. Teoretická část je strukturována do čtyř kapitol, které se věnují teoretickým východiskům. Metodologická část práce se věnuje metodologii samotného výzkumu. V této části jsou popsány cíle výzkumu, jsou zde nastíněny strategie výzkumu, je zde popsán výzkumný nástroj a výzkumný soubor, popsán průběh získávání dat a jsou zde uvedeny možné limity a omezení výzkumu. Byl zvolen kvalitativně orientovaný výzkum. Pro realizaci výzkumu bylo využito polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Interpretační část je zaměřena na analýzu dat a interpretaci výsledků. Jsou zde uvedeny závěry výzkumu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with coping strategies applied by social workers dealing with stressful situations. The aim of the thesis was to provide an answer for the main experimental question: „What are the own coping strategies of social workers in the Department of Assistance in Material Need?“ The diploma thesis is divided into three main parts – the theoretical part, methodological part and interpretative part. The theoretical part is further organized into four chapters devoted to theoretical standpoints. The first chapter revolve around the system of social assistance in the Czech Republic and the second chapter deal with the roles and competencies of social workers in the Department of Assistance in Material Need. The definition of a stress-related situation or stress itself is further elaborated in the third individual chapter. The fourth chapter focuses on stress handling, part of which is defining the concepts of defense mechanisms and coping. The methodological part addresses the methodology of the experiment itself. This chapter describes the targets of the experiment, also foreshadows the strategies employed for the experiment, attends to the research tool and research sample, the process of collecting the data and outlines possible research limitations. With respect to the topic of the thesis, a qualitatively oriented research was selected. The instrument of a questionnaire was chosen for the data collection, using a semi-structured interview. The interpretative part focuses on the data analysis and results interpretation.
