Senior as a client: volunteering for the retired

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Můj klient senior aneb dobrovolnictví směrem k seniorům“ pojednává o situaci dnešních seniorů. Teoretická část se skládá ze dvou částí, první část se zabývá samotným seniorem – fyzickými, psychickými a sociálními změnami, které u seniora probíhají, dále pak možnostmi využití sociálních služeb a aktivizací seniora, jak v sociálních zařízeních, tak také v domácím prostředí. Druhá část se zabývá dobrovolníkem, který za seniorem dochází, specifiky tohoto dobrovolnictví a správnou komunikací se seniorem. Na teoretickou část navazuje část výzkumná. Zde je popsána použitá výzkumná metoda, způsob sběru dat a samotný výzkum, při němž byly interpretovány rozhovory se třemi respondenty. V závěru práce jsou zodpovězeny základní výzkumné otázky, a také dílčí cíle. Základními výzkumnými otázkami byly: Jaká je motivace dobrovolníka pro práci se seniory? Jak dobrovolník vnímá seniory a jaký vztah má se svým klientem?

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis "Senior as a client: volunteering for the retired" deals with a situation of contemporary seniors. The theoretical part consists of two parts, first one deals with a senior itself - his physical, mental and social changes and also with opportunities of utilization of social services and senior's activation not only in social institutions but also in a domestic environment. Second part deals with a volunteer who visits senior, particularities of this volunteering and correct communication with a senior. In research part there are described used research method, ways of data collection and research itself, where are interpreted interviews of three respondents. In the conclusion of this work there are answered basic research questions and partial objectives. Among basic research questions belongs: What is a motivation of a volunteer to work with seniors? How a volunteer perceives seniors and what relationship does he have with his client?
