Burnout Syndrome in Doctoral Students

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje méně řešené problematice syndromu vyhoření u studentů doktorského studia. Hlavním cílem práce je poznat, popsat a interpretovat míru výskytu syndromu vyhoření u studentů doktorských studijních programů Mendelovy univerzity v Brně. Stěžejními kapitolami teoretické části práce jsou definice syndromu vyhoření, popis jednotlivých fází, charakteristika symptomů, vymezení rizikových faktorů a možností prevence. Dále je pozornost věnována průběhu a náplni doktorského studia, s důrazem na pedagogickou činnost. Rešerše je založena na analýze, komparaci a syntéze českých a zahraničních pramenů. Cílem praktické části práce je zjistit, zda a v jaké míře se u studentů doktorských studijních programů Mendelovy univerzity v Brně vyskytuje syndrom vyhoření. Průzkum je založen na kvantitativním přístupu, metodou sběru dat jsou dotazníky. Získaná data jsou analyzována pomocí deskriptivní statistiky a korelační analýzy. Výstupem jsou tabulky a grafy. Na základě výsledků průzkumu jsou navržena doporučení pro praxi.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the less recognized burnout syndrome in doctoral students. The main aim of the thesis is to identify, describe and interpret the incidence of burnout syndrome in students of doctoral study programmes at Mendel University in Brno. The fundamental chapters of the theoretical part of thesis are the definition of burnout syndrome, the description of phases of burnout, the characteristics of symptoms, the definition of risk factors and the options of prevention. Attention is also paid to course and content of doctoral studies, with emphasis of pedagogical activities. The review is based on the analysis, comparison and synthesis of Czech and foreign literature sources. The aim of the practical part of thesis is to find if, and in what extend is the burnout syndrome occuring among the students of doctoral study programmes of Mendel University in Brno. The research is based on quantitative approach. The method of data collection is survey. The data is analysed by using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The output are tables and graphs. Recommendations for practice are proposed based on the result of the survey.
