Philosophical paideia and justice in the polis

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zameria na Patočkov osobitý výklad Platóna resp. sokratovsko-platónskej tematiky, v ktorej je najdôležitejšia myšlienka starostlivosti o dušu. Patočka rozlišoval tri prúdy starostlivosti o dušu: 1) prvý prúd je ontokosmologický, 2) druhý je starosť o dušu v obci ako konflikt dvojakého spôsobu života, 3) tretí prúd je starosť o dušu po stránke jej vnútorného života. Diplomová práca pojedná o druhom prúde starostlivosti o dušu, ktorý sa týka života v obci. Postupne budú analyzované tieto problémy: spravodlivosť a nespravodlivosť v obci; a fi; duša ukáznená a duša nezriadená; fi a fi ; filozofická a jej význam pre vytvorenie spravodlivej, harmonickej a zdravej obce. Patočka sa Platónovi resp. platónsko-sokratovskej problematike venoval od 30. rokov 20. storočia. Diplomová práca sa bude opierať zvlášť o prednášky, ktoré o Platónovi predostrel v poslednom decéniu svojho života. Prihliadnuc tiež ku kontextu Patočkovej systematickej filozofie (predovšetkým jeho filozofie dejín, ale aj fenomenologickej filozofie), s ktorou je jeho výklad Platóna tesne spätý. V závere diplomovej práce bude uvážené, či je možné celú Platónovu filozofiu oprávnene a podložene považovať za filozofiu výchovnú.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on Patočka's particular interpretation of Plato or Socratic-Platonic themes, in which the idea of care for the soul is the most important. Patočka distinguished three streams of soul care: 1) the first stream is ontocosmological, 2) the second is the care of the soul in the polis as a conflict of the dual way of life, 3) the third stream is the care of the soul in terms of its inner life. The thesis deals with the second stream of care for the soul, which is related to life in the polis. The following problems are analyzed: justice and injustice in the polis; and fi; the soul ordered and the soul unordered; fi and fi ; philosophical and its importance for the creation of a just, harmonious and healthy community. Patočka has been working on Plato or Plato-Socrates since the 1930s; the thesis relies particularly on lectures he gave on Plato in the last decade of his life. It also takes into account to the context of Patočka's systematic philosophy (especially his philosophy of history, but also his phenomenological philosophy), with which his interpretation of Plato is closely related. The thesis concludes by considering whether the whole of Plato's philosophy can legitimately and justifiably be regarded as a philosophy of education.
