The quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus, type 1.

Abstract:

Diabetes mellitus je nazýván chorobou 21. století. Toto chronické onemocnění je potencionální hrozbou pro každého z nás. Každým rokem se počet nemocných zvyšuje. Česká republika je jedna ze zemí s nejvyšší incidencí a prevalencí diabetu v Evropě. Každá chronická choroba se promítá v bio-psycho-sociální rovině jedince, přináší určité omezení a zásady, může způsobit řadu komplikací a značně snížit kvalitu života. Hlavním cílem mé práce bylo zjistit, jaký je pohled diabetiků na jejich kvalitu života, jak jsou spokojeni se svým zdravím a jak moc toto onemocnění narušuje jejich komfort. Má bakalářská práce je rozdělena na 2 části. Teoretická část pojednává o onemocnění. Zmiňuji charakteristiku choroby, její historii, patogenezi a symptomatologii, diagnostiku, možné komplikace a vhodnou léčbu. Blíže se zabývám právě I. typem diabetes mellitus. Dále se zde nachází obecné informace o kvalitě života a způsobu jejího měření, a také jaký vliv má onemocnění na kvalitu života. Praktická část je věnována výzkumu. Pro tento kvantitativní výzkum jsem použila dotazníkovou metodu, konkrétně českou verzi standardizovaného dotazníku WHOQOL-BREF. Zjišťovala jsem tak kvalitu života diabetiků 1. typu, kterou následně porovnávám s běžnou populací. Z mého šetření vyplývá, že i přes všechny zásady a obtíže, s kterými se musí diabetik potýkat, je diabetes onemocnění, které výrazně nenarušuje bio-psycho-sociální pohodu jedince a nemění jeho kvalitu života.

Abstract:

Diabetes mellitus is called as disease of 21st century. This chronic illness is a potential threat to each of us. The number of patients is increasing each year. The Czech Republic is one of the coutries with the highest incidence and prevalence of diabetes in Europe. Every chronic Disease is reflected in the bio-psycho-social area of the individual, brings limitations and principles, it can cause many complications and greatly reduce the quality of life. The main aim of my work was to find out how diabetics evaluative their quality of life, how satisfied they are with health and how much this disorder disturbs their comfort. My bachelor thesis is divided into 2 parts. The theoretical part deals with the Disease. I mention the characteristics of the disease, its history, pathogenesis and symptomatology, diagnosis, possible complications and appropriate treatment. I closely concern on the first type of diabetes mellitus There is also general information about the quality of life and the way of measuring and also how the disease affects the quality of life. The practical part is devoted to research. For shit quantitative research I used the questionnaire method, concretely the Czech version of the standardized questionnaire WHOQOL-BREF. I have been able to assess the quality of life of diabetics with the first type of diabetes, which I compare with the normal population. From my research it follows that despite all the principles and difficulties that diabetics have to face, there is the diabetes disease that does not significantly disturb the bio-psycho-social well-being of an individual and not change the quality of life.
