Analysis of categorical data from the Social Inequality Survey in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu názorů obyvatel České republiky, které se týkají sociální nerovnosti. Data pro tento účel byla získána ze šetření Sociální nerovnosti (ISSP 2019).Ke zkoumání závislostí byly použity jednak metody založené na četnostech z kontingenční tabulky, jednak neparametrické testy pro nezávislé výběry. Analýza se soustředí především na zjišťování závislostí názorů respondentů na sociodemografických ukazatelích, jako je pohlaví, věk, vzdělání a počet členů domácnosti. Zkoumané oblasti názorů týkající se sociální nerovnosti byly názor na úspěch, spokojenost se životem, příjmové nerovnosti a ekonomická situace domácnosti. Druhá část analýzy zkoumá vztah mezi názory respondentů na dosažení úspěchu. Zjištěné výsledky analýzy závislostí zkoumaných proměnných slouží jako nastínění situace současné české společnosti a jejích názorových tendencí.

Abstract:

The focus of this bachelor's thesis is the analysis of the opinions of the population of the Czech Republic regarding social inequality. The data for this purpose were obtained from the Social Inequality Survey (ISSP 2019). To examine dependencies, methods such as frequency-based contingency table and non-parametric tests for independent samples were used. The analysis focuses primarily on identifying the dependence of respondents' opinions on socio-demographic indicators such as gender, age, education, and number of household members. The areas of opinion that are examined in relation to social inequality are the opinion on success, life satisfaction, income inequality and the economic situation of the household. The second part of the analysis examines the relationship between respondents' views on achievement. The results of the dependency analysis of the variables studied serve as an outline of the situation of contemporary Czech society and its opinion trends.
