A comparison of the Bohumil Hrabal´s novel Closely Watched Trains and film adaptation directed by Jiří Menzel.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá komparací novely Bohumila Hrabala Ostře sledované vlaky a stejnojmenné adaptace režiséra Jiřího Menzela. Práce zahrnuje srovnání knižní předlohy a filmového zpracování s cílem shrnout shodné a odlišné aspekty, které vznikají v důsledku adaptačního procesu. Praktická část obsahuje pracovní listy pro didaktické využití Ostře sledovaných vlaků ve výuce na 2. stupni základních škol. Pracovní listy vycházejí z poznatků diplomové práce, které vzešly z provedeného porovnání. Snahou při tvorbě pracovních listů bylo začlenění filmových ukázek do vyučovací hodiny tak, aby byly funkčně užity.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with a comparison of Bohumil Hrabal's novel Ostře sledované vlaky (Closely Observed Trains) and the adaptation of the same name by director Jiří Menzel. The thesis includes a comparison of the book and the film adaptation in order to summarize the similar and different aspects that arise as a result of the adaptation process. The practical part includes worksheets for didactic use of Closely Observed Trains in teaching at the second level of primary schools. The worksheets are based on the findings of the thesis, which emerged from the comparisons made. The effort in creating the worksheets was to incorporate the film clips into the lesson so that they could be used functionally.
