Abstract:

Cílem této práce je prokázat, že kultura znásilnění je stále prominentní otázkou a snaží se analyzovat a porovnávat narativy o sociálních médiích a jaký dopad maj sociální média na kulturu znásilnění ve Spojených státech. První polovina práce se zaměřuje na teoretickou část toho, co kultura znásilnění je. Zaměřuje se na její historii, definici a sociální predispozice, které vytvářejí kulturu znásilnění ve společnosti. V této části je specifikováno, s jakou definici kultury znásilnění pracuji v této práci. Druhá polovina práce je analytická a zaměřuje se na sociální dopad a roli sociálních médií ve společnosti s převažující kulturou znásilnění. Porovnává negativní a pozitivní účinky sociálních médií s příklady a podpůrnými důkazy. Práce je uzavřena porovnáním těchto příběhů a argumentuje, že sociální média jsou mocným nástrojem, který by měl být zkoumán více, aby dosáhl svého plného potenciálu.

Abstract:

This work aims to prove that rape culture is still a prominent issue and tries to analyze and compare the social media narratives and the effects social media has on rape culture in the United States. The first half of the thesis focuses the theoretical part of what rape culture is. It focuses on its history, definition and the social predispositions which are what create rape culture in a society. In this section it is specified which definition of rape culture I am working with throughout this thesis. The second half of the paper is analytical and focuses on the social impact and role of social media in a society with prevalent rape culture. It compares the negative and the positive effects of social media with a examples and supporting evidence. The work is concluded by a comparison of these narratives and argues that social media is a powerful tool that should be researched more to reach its full potential.
