How to read Philoctetes

Abstract:

Poté, co byl Filoktétés uštknut hadem, byl opuštěn na ostrově Lemnos, zraněný a silně zapáchající, ale byl vlastníkem Héraklova nic nemíjejícího luku. Hrdina zůstal ve vyhoštění po dobu deseti let až do dne, kdy ho výprava řecké armády přivedla do Tróje, kterou musel dobýt a kde se mu mělo dostat uzdravení. Tento mýtus zdramatizovali všichni tři nejvýznamnější autoři tragédií, Aischylos, Sofoklés a Eurípides, ve svých tragédií Filoktétés. Práce porovnává tyto tři verze Filoktéta, rekonstruuje původní podobu mýtu o Filoktétovi z pátého století př.n.l. Hlavním cílem je vyvrátit historické čtení Sofoklova Filoktéta a namísto toho prokázat strukturalistické čtení a zjevný vliv sofistického myšlení.

Abstract:

After being bitten by a water snake, Philoctetes has been abandoned on the island of Lemnos, wounded and giving off a terrible smell but the owner of the evetything hitting bow of Heracles. He stays in exile for ten years until the day when the Greek army expedition brings him to Troy which he must capture and where he is to be cured. This myth was dramatized by all three great tragedians, Aischylos, Sophocles and Euripides, in their tragedies Philoctetes. Present study compares these three versions of Philoctetes, reconstructs the original myth of Philoctetes from the fifth century BC. The main goal is to disprove historical approache in reading Sophocles´ Philoctetes and instead of this to prove a structuralist approache and an apparent effect of the sophists.
